This semester, our objectives are:
1. Broadening the Base
To secure the future of the pro-Israel movement, SunPAC-trained activists will identify and engage new students to join the wider pro-Israel political movement. By recognizing the various connections one individual can have to Israel and the U.S.-Israel relationship, we will identify and engage new students. This semester, SunPAC-trained activists will map our campus to understand all of the communities with natural or potential connections to Israel, the U.S.-Israel relationship, and/or politics.
SunPAC-trained activists will create a unique strategy in order to best recruit first-year students and underclassmen, identify and engage politically-minded upperclassmen who have not previously been involved, and host political workshops focused on bipartisan pro-Israel activism.
2. Building Relationships With Congressional District Offices
As SunPAC-trained student activists, our congressional relationships play a significant role in passing pro-Israel legislation. While direct relationships with Members of Congress (MOCs) are important, so too are the relationships that their staff an advisors have with pro-Israel constituents.
To build relationships with Congressional staff and advisors, members of SunPAC will lobby local offices and build a relationship with local staffers through obtaining semester internships in a Congressional office, invite Members of Congress or staffers overseeing foreign policy issues to speak on campus and meet with students, and share campus accomplishments or demonstrated support for Israel with MOCs on social media.
3. Educating Campus Leaders
Because the campus leaders of today will become the decision-makers of tomorrow, SunPAC-trained activists will identify the campus power centers and cultivate relationships with their leadership. Through these relationships, campus leaders will understand the significance of the U.S.-Israel relationship and will utilize us as reliable sources of information.
This semester, SunPAC will identify campus leaders from political influencers on campus such as Undergraduate Student Government, Young Democrats, College Republicans, Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, Honor Societies, Affinity Groups, and Multicultural Organizations. We also seek to foster and enhance our ties with the Jewish community through organizations such as Hillel, Chabad, JAC, and stand as partners in the fight against anti-Semitism. Through these efforts, we involve and educate student leaders so that they can serve as allies to our work on campus, and invest in student leaders by inviting them to participate in and attend leadership and training opportunities.
